About Us

For over 60 years the Taraval Parkside Merchants Association (TPMA) has promoted business and quality of life in our neighborhood. Now, as the People of Parkside Sunset (POPS), we’re evolving into a new organization that includes both local business owners and residents.

POPS sponsors special events like sidewalk sales, “Taste of Taraval” promotions to highlight local restaurants, local talent shows, street fairs, and merchant mixers. In 2010, we secured a facade-improvement grant for four Taraval businesses. Collective bargaining for the neighborhood is an important function of this group, and we are only as effective as our membership. Add your voice to a group that has clout with city government, developers, landlords and their sub-contractors.

More membership advantages:

  • Business promotion: Share what you have to offer during community events like the Taraval Street Fair.
  • Advertising: Get priority listing and a profile write-up on the Parkside’s online business directory.
  • Networking: Cross-market your skills and services to other members.

Businesses from Dewey Boulevard to Ocean Beach are encouraged to help us improve and enhance the Taraval Street corridor for residents and families—our customers—and bring local merchants together to address common concerns and challenges. A strong merchants association is essential for a successful business climate. Still not sure about joining? You’re welcome to attend a few of our monthly meetings and get to know us before making any commitments. Our meetings are the first Thursday of every month at 7:00 p.m. at the Taraval Police Station Community Room, 2345 24th Avenue.
